Monica Rakoczy

Owner

Born and raised in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, I grew up walking jobsites with my father who ran a construction company. I graduated from Penn State University and started my career with a large General Contractor in Chesapeake, Virginia. This exposed me to the daily operations of how a job gets done – the true nuts and bolts of our industry. I began working heavily with equipment which began my foray into safety management. During my years at the GC, I took many training classes, and quickly learned what training was effective with our field crews and what didn't resonate.

From there, I transitioned to work in sales for the trench safety side of nationwide rental company. This is where I developed my love and passion of all things trench safety. Eventually my role expanded to include training. I began teaching Competent Person Trench Safety and Permit Required Confined Space classes monthly in the Mid-Atlantic Region. I finally had a career path that made sense – training was what I was meant to do! I Loved it, and my customers kept coming back for more.

After relocating back to Pennsylvania to be closer to family, I took a position as a full time safety consultant. My class offerings quickly grew from 2 to over 20, and I expanded from a construction focus to industrial and utilities. I became involved in the 811 partnerships, which led to public speaking events at safety days across the state, as well as an active role in regional partnerships.

When we first engaged Monica Rakoczy to assist with our safety training it was simply to meet our regulatory obligations.  We had tried other companies over our 20 years in business and frankly the attitude of our 50+ workforce was typically "Do I have to go through this again?"  Having had to sit through a number of sessions myself, I knew exactly what they were thinking, monotonous and boring.

Monica's training sessions have been anything but.  From the very first session it was clear that Monica's approach to training; hands-on, interactive, interspersed with a touch of humor, hit just the right cord with our workforce.  Comments like "that was awesome" and "that's the most I've gotten out of a training session in my 20 years here" are commonplace after her presentations.  I have to concur with my workforce, Monica Rakoczy is an awesome Safety Trainer.
